Long Time, No Post

So, I am very bad at posting... I apologize. But many things have happened since I last posted from London. In brief, I came home worked summer orientation, then I worked my ass off at home on the Cape, then worked fall orientation, and now I am back at school. I am at Simmons for the fall semester and then I am off to participate in the BU Internship in Arts Administration in London. Art + London + Me = wicked pumped! I can't wait to go back, and I promise to post more frequently when I am abroad.

I ::Heart:: Red Sox Season!

Today was my first BoSox game of the season, and it was a great way to start it off! The sox killed the LA Angels of Anaheim 0-8! We are now 1st in the AL East, but only a 1/2 game over the Blue Jays. I went with Katherine and her brother and father, it was so much fun! And we had amazing seats... Field Box 9 on the 1st baseline. Though I have to saw that i teared up seeing J. D. Drew in the #7... Trot you are missed!
Thanks Swanson! Today was so much fun... I can't believe that I had to leave in the 8th for duty! I missed the Ortiz homer :(

I knew that it was a bad idea to buy the Trot Nixon shirt last season...

If you know me, then you know that I have been in love with Trot Nixon since 2002. 2002 was the year when I finally discovered my true and undying passion for the Red Sox. I had always loved the Red Sox, but I was a September-Watcher only. I didn't join the ban wagon after the 2004 World Series win (YAY) but rather two years before. Before 2002, I did not have a countdown from the final game to spring training, or skip class to stand outside Gate C for tickets, or watch/listen to every game of the season. I was not a statistician. Trot was one of the players that got me involved in the Sox.

I knew that it was a bad idea to buy the Trot Nixon shirt last season...

Trot was the love of my life... but now with the 2007 MLB season about to start I feel as if there is a hole in the Red Sox Starting line up. Trot, who was with the Red Sox from 1996-2006, has been acquired by the Cleveland Indians. Who am I going to cheer for? I can't just pick any new favorite player; they have to earn the right to be considered my favorite.

I knew that it was a bad idea to buy the Trot Nixon shirt last season...

Even though I have know about this since January, and cried on the T when I heard that it was official, I still can't believe that I will be cheering for the Red Sox without Trot Nixon on the roster. Though I just found out that Trot is no longer wearing #7 as he did in Boston, but rather he is wearing #33 for the Indians. This is rather upsetting for me, but only because I hate change, in any form.

I knew that it was a bad idea to buy the Trot Nixon shirt last season...

Trot Nixon was one of the most all around good team payers that the Red Sox had. He didn't have the name recognition like Manny, Ortiz, Varitek, or Pedro, but Trot had a keen eye at the plate and the ability to get on base, which helped the Sox in many tight spots over the past decade.

I knew that it was a bad idea to buy the Trot Nixon shirt last season...

I am cursed. Every time that I go to the fan shop on Yawkey Way and by a current players shirt, they leave the team: Johnny Damon, and now Trot Nixon. I, from this day forward, will never buy another shirt with the name and/or number of a current Red Sox player on it. I will only buy shirts that have the name and/or number of retired player. And I will petition the MLB shop to supply shirts in sizes XS and S of these retired players, since they currently refuse to. Rice, Yastrzemski, Williams, and Fisk those are the men I will wear with pride on my back.

I knew that it was a bad idea to buy the Trot Nixon shirt last season...

Trot was on his way to having the #7 retired in Fenway Park. He had his 10 years with the Sox, and he will obviously be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, but he did not finish his career at the Sox. That is the one piece that will keep the number #7 off the list of retired numbers. ::tear::

Shakespeare anyone?

So I have found another obsession... the Reduced Shakespeare Company! you have to watch or listen to there stuff, it is simply hilarious. They have a bunch of other reduced plays other than Shakespeare: The Bible, All the Great Book, and Hollywood. Here is a sampling...

::Beat Box::
"Here's the story of a brother by the name of Othello, he liked white women and he liked green jello. And this punk named Iago who made himself a menace who didn't like Othello, the moor of Venice.
And Othello got married to Desdemona. He took off for the wars and left her alone-a. It was a moan-a. A groan-a. He left her alone-a. He didn't write a letter and he didn't telephone-a.
Now, Desdemona, she was faithful, she was chastity tight she was the daughter of a duke yeah she was totally white.
And Iago loved Desi like Adonis loved Venus and Desi loved Othello 'cause he had a big--sword!
Iago says, I'm gonna shaft the moor. How you gonna do it? Tell us. Well, I know his tragic flaws, and he's too damn jealous. He's a dupe, a dope, a kind of schmo. So he found a trump sucker by the name of Cassio. And he plants on him Desdemona's handkerchief.
So Othello gets to wonderin' just maybe if while he'd been out fightin' commandin' an army are Desi and Cass playin' hide the salami? S-s-s-s-salami!
So he comes back home, he's got the pillow in her face. He kills her and soliloquizes 'bout his disgrace. But theres Emilia at the door, who we met in act IV, who say, you big dummy, she werent no whore. She was pure, she was clean, she was virginal, too. So whyd you have to go and make her face turn blue? Its true! Its you! Now what you gonna do?
And Othello says, Damn! This is getting pretty scary! Pulled out his blade and committed Hari-Kari. Huh! Do that funky moor thing, white boy.
Iago got caught, but he probably copped a plea. Loaded up his bags, and moved to Beverly. Hills that is."

Look! A new Hair Cut!

Look at how long it was! .... and now how short it is!

Yay! for no more Hair!

Chalking it Up...

So yesterday the famous Sidewalk Sam came to Simmons to help celebrate Women’s College Week. This year Sidewalk Sam, his minions, and a huge group of Simmons students worked together to create a replica of “The Music Lesson” by Henry Matisse.

Sidewalk and I hit it off right away once we figured out that we shared a name and a love for art! It was love at fist sight :p as most of you know I am a sucker for facial hair… hahahaha. It was such an amazing experience watching a variety of students who in any other circumstance would never thing of working together, let alone painting together. It showed what was “good with America—cooperation!” --Sidewalk Sam

Check out his website to learn more about the great programs that he is coordinating!

Ode to Nutella....

Oh this is a fun one...

So I have officially decided that Nutella is pretty much the best food know to man. I love it so much that I have chosen to go online and write a post about it.

But seriously, how can anyone not like Nutella, unless they are allergic to nuts, then I can understand it.

Today I was really craving it so I braved the SNOW to get some at Star. Yes, I walked in the snow! I hate snow, the only thing I hate more is sleet, and thank God that it isn't sleeting out.

It was worth it though. While I was at Star I also bought some Club Crackers to go with the Nutella. The chocolaty-nutty spread goes perfectly with the light/buttery Club Crackers. Though I wish I had some of Kelly's zucchini bread to spread this goodness on. Or maybe if I had warm croissants to spread it on that would be amazing too.

As you probably have guessed, I have 3 huge projects that are due in the coming weeks and this is a means of procrastination. Just humor me and don't judge... you all know that procrastination is a wonderful thing and you all do it once and awhile.

I also think it is amusing that I have written more in this post than I have for my Thesis + Outline that is due next Tuesday for Margaret's Renaissance class. I should probably get my self into gear and get over to the BPL this weekend and finish my research. However, I doubt that is going to happen today, and Saturday I am busy from 9am to 3. And the Library is at Copley, and all the books are "in library use only"; so either I spend $20 and make copies, or I sit there for hours upon hours on the crazy/scary 3rd floor special library and read there.

Oh, and I should tell everyone that I am officially working at the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum at the volunteer desk. I have my second half of training tomorrow and then I get to help people find their way around Izzy house! Isabella Gardener and I are tight. That is why I call her Izzy. I am at her house 3 times a week, sometimes more if there is a special lecture happening (yes, i know that she died almost 80 years ago, but I think she still has a huge presence in the museum and people should recognize that fact). I am so excited! It has been a dream of mine since I was like 8 years old to work there, and I am there!!

Well, I should get some work done... toodles

You know you need a hug when....

You know you need a hug when your day can be described as: long, tiring, stressful, awful, terrible, dreadful, dire, exhausting, out of control, and Hell

I wont even begin to bitch and moan about it, because I will stress out again; so just take my word for it that it was bad, and give me a hug, please.

My two high points today were 1. seeing my friend from home (yay!), and 2. going to my first meeting for my class in London! I cant wait!! May 14th will not come soon enough!

Intro to the World of Blogging...

Hi all...

I know that I said I would never have a blog, but I had to jump on the band wagon! I want to be able to keep in better touch with my friends, especially my kindred spirit, LIZ!!! So be patient with me, I have never been good at keeping a diary, so I don't see how this will be different :p

I hate to write, but I live through the lens of my camera...

Cyndi and I <3 you Liz!
